While announced way back in April, the new center will support the Group’s global operations in the areas of finance and data management.
By the end of 2026, the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub team in Gdańsk is expected to comprise approximately 100 specialists.
The official inauguration of the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub—a new business center for the technology group Wärtsilä—took place 25 September in Gdańsk.
Located at the Olivia Business Centre, the hub will support the company’s global operations, including finance and data management. This marks the next stage of the company’s development in Gdańsk, where it has already been operating for over 30 years. Until now, it has employed around 350 people locally in maritime-related operations.
The new unit expands the company’s local presence by adding capabilities in global business services. The opening ceremony was attended by members of Wärtsilä’s global leadership team, including CEO Håkan Agnevall, CFO Arjen Berends, Antti Valtokari (Vice President of Wärtsilä Global Business Services), and Wojciech Krygowski (Head of the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk).
The Gdańsk center will focus on financial operations and data management, supporting Wärtsilä’s various business units worldwide.
The team will utilize modern corporate platforms such as SAP S/4HANA, Basware AP, and ServiceNow. By the end of 2026, the center’s team is expected to number around 100 employees. Wärtsilä is primarily seeking experienced specialists in financial operations and data management who possess strong digital skills and experience in process improvement and transformation.
There are also plans to develop a team of experts specializing in automation and artificial intelligence. “Establishing the new center in Gdańsk is a significant step toward enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of our Global Business Services. We plan to grow the Gdańsk team to approximately 100 employees by the end of 2026,” says Håkan Agnevall, CEO of Wärtsilä.
As Wojciech Krygowski, Head of the Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk, emphasizes, the center’s activities will not be limited to handling routine processes. “We are building a highly skilled team that will support Wärtsilä’s global operations, with a focus on continuous improvement, digitalization, and technology-driven transformation. Thanks to the region’s strong talent pool, we see excellent opportunities to further develop our capabilities here in the coming years,” says Wojciech Krygowski.
Wärtsilä’s second global center
The Wärtsilä Global Business Services Hub in Gdańsk is the Group’s second global business services center. The new unit complements the operations of Wärtsilä’s existing center in Vaasa, Finland. Wärtsilä is a global leader in innovative technologies and lifecycle solutions for the marine and energy markets. It employs 17,900 specialists across 199 locations in 78 countries.
