Takeda is signalling a significant expansion of the strategic role of its Łódź operations, launching a search for a new Head of Global Finance Center of Excellence based in Poland.
The senior executive will report directly to Takeda’s CFO and lead the pharmaceutical group’s Global Finance Center of Excellence, with responsibility for shaping Finance and Procurement service delivery across the global organization.
The mandate goes considerably beyond traditional shared-services management. Takeda describes its Finance CoE as both a strategic capability and a transformation platform, combining functional expertise, process excellence, data, digital technology and global talent.
The new leader will be charged with simplifying and standardizing end-to-end Finance and Procurement processes, evolving Takeda’s global operating model and delivering measurable productivity improvements through process transformation, automation and sourcing optimization.
AI will also be central to the mandate. Takeda expects the new executive to establish an “AI-first” digital agenda for Finance and Procurement, scaling automation, analytics, digital workflows and emerging technologies while building broader capabilities in AI adoption, data literacy and digital innovation.
The location of the role is particularly significant for Poland’s business-services sector. Rather than positioning the global leadership role at corporate headquarters, Takeda is placing it in Łódź, where it already operates a substantial Global Capability Centre.
Takeda’s broader recruitment activity points toward an increasingly multi-functional GCC model. Current roles in areas including Finance, HR and process management indicate that Łódź is developing beyond transactional shared services toward higher-value global process, transformation and capability ownership.
The company’s emerging global capability footprint appears to be centred around three major locations — Łódź, Bengaluru and Mexico City — creating a global delivery model spanning Europe, Asia and the Americas.
For the Polish GBS sector, the development is another example of the continuing shift from cost-driven shared services toward globally owned functions, transformation mandates and senior enterprise leadership roles based in CEE.
